Ronald Jeff Freeman, Sr. is the Co-Founder of Johnson & Freeman, LLC. The firm was established in 1994 and continues to provide representation to domestic entities, foreign governments, and appointed and elected officials. Freeman graduated with High Honors in 1982 from Morehouse College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science. After receiving a “Regents Opportunity Scholarship” from the State of Georgia, he received his Juris Doctor Degree from Georgia State University School of Law in 1985. Freeman also serves as the Chief Judge in Municipal Courts in Clayton and Fulton Counties. Freeman is a member of the Georgia Council of Municipal Court Judges. He occasionally teaches at the Institute of Continuing Judicial Education in Athens, Georgia, on Alternative Sentencing for Youthful Offenders and serves as a Mentor Judge for new Judges in the State of Georgia.

Freeman has had a long, successful career in the practice of law, including his recognition as one of the top Business Lawyers in the State of Georgia by Atlanta and Law & Politics Magazines since 2004. This honor is bestowed only to the top 5% of Lawyers in the State. In 2018, Peer Review Georgia lawyers recognized him as a “Top Business Lawyer in Georgia.” Also, on December 15th, 2018, he received the B.L.S.A. “Legacy Award” from the GSU Black Law Students Association during its 50th Anniversary National BLSA Celebration. In 2016, Freeman was inducted as a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation. This honor is bestowed upon the top 1% of Lawyers in the world. He has also been recognized since 2003 as a Georgia “Legal Elite” by Who’s Who Publishing Magazine. In 2014, he was recognized as one of the top 100 Black Lawyers in America. Also, in 2014, the Black Law Students Association (“B.L.S.A.”) of the Georgia State University College of Law was renamed in his honor.

In 2013, he was recognized with the “Distinguished Alumnus Award” from Georgia State University. In November 2011, he was awarded the “Volunteer of the Year Award” by the Metro Young Family YMCA for his community service and the building of strong minds, bodies, and spirits in our young people. In February 2011, Freeman was the recipient of the S.O.A.R. Award (Serving Others and Achieving Results) by Georgia State University School of Law Public Interest Law Association, an award given to deserving law alumni who have demonstrated exceptional work in the area of public interest in his or her community.

Freeman has also been recognized for other numerous achievements and awards, such as: 1989 Recipient, Big Brother of the Year Award; 1990 Recipient, Outstanding Young People of Atlanta Award; 1992 Recipient, 100 Black Men of Atlanta, Inc. 100 Black Men of America, Inc. Award; 1994 Leadership Atlanta Award; 1998 Recipient, Atlanta Business Women’s Association Business Man of the Year Award; 1998-2000 Recipient, Buffalo Solider Award; 2006 Recipient, A. T. Walden Outstanding Lawyer Award Gate City Bar Association; 2007 Recipient, Man of the Year Award, Hoosier Memorial United Methodist Church; 2007 Recipient, “Alumni Career Achievement Award,” Georgia State University College of Law Black Law Students Association; and Recipient of the Morehouse Atlanta Chapter Alumni Association Law Award.

Since 2007, he has been featured in Who’s Who Publishing Magazine for Black Judges in America. In 2017, while serving as Chief Judge in the City of Riverdale Municipal Court, it was recognized for its “Alternative Sentencing for Youthful Offenders” as “Program of the Year” by the Association of Municipal Court Clerks. In 2019, while serving as Chief Judge in the City of Union City Municipal Court, it was recognized for its “Junior Bailiff Program.” Recently, in 2022, the Union City Municipal Court was recognized with the “Program of the Year Award” by the Association of Municipal Court Clerks for its “Community Resource Center.”
