About

Jatrean M. Sanders is an attorney with over a decade and a half of leadership and experience in the legal profession. A native of Mobile, Alabama, Jatrean attended Spelman College, where she was initiated into Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, and graduated magna cum laude with a degree in Political Science.
Jatrean continued her education at the University of Tennessee College of Law in Knoxville, Tennessee where she competed on the College of Law’s National Trial Team and served as the Moot Court Board Vice-Chair. Jatrean graduated with honors and obtained her Juris Doctorate in 2009.

Upon graduating from law school, Jatrean obtained and still maintains her license to practice law in both Georgia and Tennessee. During the first eight years of her legal career, she worked in private practice as a civil litigation defense attorney. In 2017, Jatrean pivoted into public service, working as a Senior Staff Attorney in Fulton County Superior Court. After completing a four-year tenure with the Fulton County Superior Court, Jatrean returned to private practice as a personal injury plaintiff’s attorney, handling the resolution of both pre-suit claims and post-suit litigation.

Jatrean is also actively engaged in bar leadership and service. In January 2022, she was sworn in as the Gate City Bar Association’s 58th President. The Gate City Bar Association, which celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2023, is the oldest Black Bar Association for lawyers in the State of Georgia. In the Fall of 2022, Jatrean received the Brandes S. G. Ash/Toya Carmichael Award from the National Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division for exhibiting exceptional leadership during her tenure as President. She was also recognized by the National Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division as a 2022 Power 100 Honoree, which nationally honors the achievements and service of outstanding young professionals in law, politics, government, and business. Jatrean currently serves as a Member of the State Bar of Georgia’s Finance Committee and remains actively involved in leadership in the Gate City Bar Association.
